Firehouse Maintenance Position (1)

 The Fishers Fire District is accepting applications for a full time Firehouse Maintenance person.  Employee’s in this position will perform upkeep and general maintenance of the Fire District buildings, apparatus, equipment, and properties.  Employee’s will also answer radio and/or telephone alarms, drive assigned apparatus to incidents to with the Fishers Fire Department is summoned.  Based on the Employee’s qualifications, may perform additional duties in one or more of the following areas: equipment and apparatus repairs, computer data entry, assist with District purchasing functions.

 Minimum Qualifications:

21 years of age or older

High School diploma or GED

Valid New York State Drivers license

Demonstrated ability to drive a truck

Basic cleaning and maintenance skills for buildings, equipment, and apparatus ( one year experience as a janitor, cleaner, or volunteer firefighter)

Good verbal communications skills         

Able to carry out normal instructions and directives

Able to deal with the public

 Additional desirable skills:

Basic computer knowledge and ability to do data entry

Mechanical and electrical skills commensurate with handling general maintenance and repairs to equipment and apparatus

Basic financial skills commensurate with assisting with purchasing duties for the District
